Beautiful Skin is no Secret—It's what you feed it inside and out

April 06, 2019

Holistic Skincare involves the discipline of choosing healthy fuel for your body in the foods you eat, and choosing safe products to treat your skin.

For many years, I've been asked by clients and customers alike, "What product should I use to help with my dry skin, oily skin, my fine lines, or with breakouts?" or "Why am I still getting acne? I'm not a teenager anymore!" or "How can I address my uneven skin tone and dark spots?" And almost always the answer is quite similar in every case, in the form of a question, "what are you eating and drinking?" and equally as important, "what are you applying on your face and body?" First and foremost, if you're not drinking plenty of water every day, then you're not doing your skin any favors. Coffee, soda, juices, etc., don't count as water. The body craves and needs good ol' H2O to provide your skin with the hydration it needs. If you want wrinkles, then yes, drink less water and drink lots of coffee and other beverages.

If you're having problems with breakouts, refrain from eating any dairy products or fried foods. If that's not something you're willing to give up, then you must be prepared to live with oily skin and breakouts, sadly. Your body needs to be in a constant state of balance to be at its best, and dairy and fried foods tip the scale negatively.

When it comes to what you apply to your skin, this is equally as important as what you put into your body. If your skin care regimen is to buy whatever is on sale, or whatever the trend of the day is, then I implore you to STOP! Please, don't put harmful chemicals into your body, it's not helping your skin, and it's definitely not helping you. Be sure to use products that are made with holistic ingredients that are actually good for your skin, and not loaded with harmful chemicals.

My goal for 2019 is to help you achieve youthful, glowing, and radiant skin.  I'll be writing blog posts that answer the many questions women ask about what products to apply that will help bring balance to their skin. I'll cover not only what they should be feeding their skin, but also what foods will help them achieve the complexion of their dreams. If you're willing to make healthy changes for your skin's sake, let me help you.
